Hello!
Welcome to all St. Charles Borromeo and St. Peter's parishioners seeking the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion for their children. By receiving these sacraments, your child enters into the fullness of what the Church has to offer her children: the opportunity for reconciling ourselves in the eyes of God, and the very body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The latter of the two, the Holy Eucharist, is what sets us apart from all other Christian denominations. We, as Catholics, profess the consecrated bread and wine to be truly the Body and Blood of Christ. This is why it is called "the source and summit of the Christian life" (Lumen Gentium 11) as well as, "the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch" (Presbyterorum ordinis 5).
Though young, the children who approach preparation for these Sacraments have a remarkable capacity for the spiritual life and are endowed with a God-given hunger for living faith. I pray you, as their first teachers, will support and encourage your children in their faiths by your own witness. The example of your leadership will have the most profound effect upon the children entrusted to you by God. Please, avail yourself to the Sacraments of Confession and Holy Eucharist as your children prepare to receive these sacraments themselves.
Be assured of my prayers for you and your families, and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Pax,
Alexis Pomietlo
